Import substitution

The same fit and function — from a source you can talk to.

A large share of the marking part numbers used on Phoenix Contact, Brady, TE and Lapp systems can be produced on our own lines. There are three ways to do it, and they differ in one thing only: how much of your process has to change.

Three ways to replace an imported part

Pick the one that matches how much change your production can absorb. All three are delivered under our own brand, with our own packaging.

01 Direct equivalent

Same format. Same printer. Nothing to re-tool.

  • Same dimensions, column count and pitch as the part number it replaces
  • Runs on the original printer, software and print templates
  • Only the packaging differs — the label itself is supplied under our brand
  • Roll-format identification products only

Best for: maintenance, mixed-brand stores, repeat builds where changing a template is not worth the effort.

02 Adapted layout

Different arrangement. Lower entry point. We convert the file.

  • Column count, pitch or core may differ from the original part
  • Requires a change of printer, software, print file or ribbon
  • We convert your existing print file and confirm the new layout on a sample before the run
  • Roll-format identification products only

Best for: high-volume repeat runs and standard harness work, where one set-up change pays back over the first orders.

03 Print-to-order

No printer. No ribbon. No operator time.

  • Send a wire list, terminal schedule, drawing export or a physical sample
  • We print, sequence and pack to your breakdown, then ship
  • No investment in printer, software, ribbon or staff time
  • Applies to all identification products, not only roll formats

Best for: prototypes, very small quantities, high-value one-off marking and shutdown work where nobody is free to print.

Systems we are asked about most

We are regularly asked for equivalents of part numbers used with these systems. Send the number and we will confirm whether it falls in scope.

What we do — and what we do not do

We do

  • Manufacture and print under our own brands, Prelude and BRD
  • Match dimensions, format and print behaviour so the part works in your process
  • Supply test samples for first-article approval before a production run
  • Issue material and compliance documentation per part number

We do not

  • Supply goods carrying third-party brand names, logos or packaging
  • Copy proprietary artwork or trademarks onto any product
  • Claim to be an authorised distributor of the brands listed above
  • Supply marking machinery or spare parts for other manufacturers' printers

Brand names are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe compatibility of format and function. Prelude is an independent manufacturer and is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by any of the brand owners listed. Product and company names are used for identification purposes only.

Send one part number and see what comes back

Tell us the imported part number, the quantity you run and the environment it goes into. We reply with the equivalent construction, what — if anything — you would need to change, and a sample offer.
